About McClain Gallery As gallerists and dealers since 1980, principals Robert and Cynthia Cage McClain have focused on the exhibition and the acquisition of museum quality, collectible contemporary and 20th century art. Based in Houston, the gallery maintains an internationalist point of view, exhibiting the works of New York, European, Asian and Texas artists; in a full range of media including painting, sculpture, works on paper, photography and conceptual installations. Our pluralistic program represents major figures such as Julian Schnabel, Peter Halley, Donald Baechler, and Louise Nevelson, while continuing to commit to younger generations of artists, which includes primary representation of many Texas based artists – The Art Guys, Kent Dorn, Aaron Parazette, Christian Eckart, Karin Broker, Kelli Vance and duo Jeff Shore and Jon Fisher. Monthly exhibitions focus on one-person exhibitions that are supplemented by occasional survey and thematic group shows that investigate current themes in contemporary art. We take satisfaction in presenting artists and exhibitions that initiate community dialog about art and its relationship to the social, cultural and political landscape of our culture. In addition to the promotion of the work of our stable of artists, we actively advise and help private individuals, corporations and institutions in acquiring a specific work or organizing a comprehensive program of collecting. On an annual basis, the gallery organizes survey exhibitions of significant current themes in contemporary art, providing the community in many cases, its first view of cutting edge work from New York and abroad. Educating both the new collector, as well as the sophisticated collector, is a vital part of our gallery program. Founders and Directors: Robert and Cynthia Cage McClain |
